phpBB Discussion • Re: Blocking bots that flood my phpBB with requests

My ACP default "Session IP validation" was set to "A.B.C". When I changed this to "A.B" session login's seem to be working perfectly again. It seems reasonable to me that CF may be adjusting IP addresses to my site and, thus, the issue I was having.
Ideally you install and configure mod_remoteip but if you are on shared hosting you will need to make a request to your host. Without tht anything that utilizes IP is going to wrong, for example server log files.

There are also two extensions available here that are older but AFAIK they still work. This is not ideal because it's only for phpBB.
Thanks for the heads up on that. I went ahead and set "Session IP validation" to None. Do you know if I'm okay now with running phpBB normally w/o doing anything with mod_remoteip? Is there anything else in phpBB that will cause a problem with this IP issue?

I really don't care about log files and such right now and I am doubtful about getting my ISP to do something like that. In the long term I can deal with this including potentially going to non-shared hosting or even another ISP but in the short term I just want my forums to work. Thanks for your help.
